It was in Genoa, Florence, and Venice where these weavers added color and pattern to the fabric. Today, velvet is primarily made from cotton, resulting in a soft, lustrous, and smooth material. It is commonly used for upholstery, curtains, and clothing, such as dresses and jackets, due to its weight. This high quality cotton velvet is perfect for evening wear, bridal wear, costumes, and theatrical purposes.
